     Q1) WHAT IS STRESS?

Stress is our INTERNAL reaction to a stimulus or to a situation. If we are able to cope up with the situation EFFECTIVELY, then we are NOT in stress, but if not, than we are in Stress, and then this is called “Distress” and this can adversely affect our physical, mental and emotional health. Stress is the root cause of many of the problems which malign our society and youth today, like drugs addictions, alcoholism, smoking, suicides, bullying, abused children of child sexual abuse, anger, aggression, Post-traumatic stress syndrome, depression and many other behaviour problems and psychological and psychiatric problems. Recognize, Re-educate and Understanding, depend on each other to effectively remove the Stigma surrounding mental illness and substance use disorders. This is what PARI Foundation also wants to do—to fully WIPE OUT any Stigma associated with mental health issues and clear the path to recovery and health.

     Q4) WHAT ARE THE BARRIERS?

These include----ignorance, shame, stigma, guilt, superstitions and old Beliefs, associated with stress and mental illness. We must break through these, so that people with mental illness are supported and NOT segregated or left untreated.
